Proper old-fashioned pub, heaving on a wet wednesday lunchtime but they fit us in for lunch.

Staff very friendly, and the man that makes the pickled onions for the ploughmans sat at the bar.

Will go again.

Really good little pub with terrific Sunday lunches and well kept beer. Badger beer is not to everyone's taste but when its well kept its pretty good. Well worth a visit!

Despite being Hall & Woodhouse beer this is a nice pub.
Enthusiastic and helpful landlords. Gas fire and nice atmosphere.
Well worth a visit.
Due to them having to close lunch due to a hospital appointment I missed lunch (and went to another pub which is another (sad) story. But I am sure that lunch, if I could have had it, would have been good.
This pub really merits support.

Hadn't planned on going here but very glad we did! We were made very welcome, the food was excellent - the best we've eaten for ages, and well priced. 45 for starter + main + drink for 3 adults. Nice cider and I like Badgers best!

surprised at the current 8.1/10 score......not up to that level. H&W ales will always be a problem.....
not eaten here so cant comment.

Neil and Denise are great hosts. Neil keeps excellent real ales and Denise produces the best pub food (too good to call it 'pub food' really) in the area. It is a very old pub with a great ambience and would score 10 but for the limited table room but Neil is sorting this out as I write. I will up it to 10 then!!

The best pub we have found for years! New landlords in December 06 are great hosts. Great food (Sundays roast is the best for miles - but you need to book as there is not much room) very well kept beer and a good selection of single malts if that is your thing.

Looks very small from the outside and is not massive when you get in but don't let this put you off. The service is friendly, the food excellent and the gardens very peaceful. Also benefits from a traditional skittle alley.

New landlord is a very friendly and genuine local chap taking this on as a career change. It's a small cosy place. Beer is good (Hall and Woddhouse). Food is good basic fare at very reasonable prices. There is a skittle alley that can double as a function room and restaurant overflow. It's best to try and eat in the main bit though as it has more atmosphere. The small garden needed a bit of a tidy up when I went there last summer but this was prior to the new landlord's arrival. Worth a visit as I sence that this place is "on the up" at last
