PinkFloyd_82, not so good for LFC fans anymore. None of us go there anymore, we all go the Hotspur now.

Awful. Makes me shudder. Hasn't been good for a long time; certainly not since it was Inventions and maybe not then...

Now no longer sporting the australian theme, it is a run of the mill pub of which there are hundreds in any given city. It's spacious and conveniently located, but I can't recommend the beer.

Decent student pub. Good location. Pretty cheap drinks and the food is ok. Good for sport (especially if you're a Liverpool fan, weirdly). The toilets are pretty rank though.

Spray-on fake aussie bar. So lager, 'amusing' road signs with kangaroos on them, and big portions of red meat. Also home to the sloaney student brigade, which makes it worth crossing the street to avoid.

Very dissapointing. As an Australian stranded in Newcastle for the Super 12 final I rang around to find somewhere I could watch the game. Bar Oz categorically said they would be showing the match but only from thier opening time of 11am. I showed up at 11 and waited until 10 past before being allowed in. Then I was told that only the boss could decide to change channel and that he wouldn't be there until 11.30.

Bar Oz is exactly what it purports to be......an English version of an Australian pub. The majority of the staff are of antipodean ancestry and the prices (for Newcastle city centre) are on the cheaper side. Several interactive gaming machines (snowboarding and skateboarding most recently), add a touch of the Australian competitivenesss, while a large amount of floorspace (which means few seating areas), add to the open feel of this bar. Bar staff are quick and friendly, tables are cleared quickly and the (downstairs) toilets are clean and monitored frequently. A good place to meet work colleagues or commence a stag/hen do.
