please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I'd been nextdoor to here in the Hop & Cleaver 3 nights previous. But back in the area, I decided to give the Redhouse a try. It has what feels like an ancient interior, with exposed brickwork. The ale selection was better than I was expecting - Hop & Cleaver Devil's Pale, Cullercoats Tyne, Allendale Ruby Columbus, Anarchy Blonde Star, Great North Eastern Rivet Catcher & Mordue Five Bridges. No real cider though. Quite an atmospheric place that I will not pass by in a hurry next time.

Despite a premium of £24 for a bottle of wine and a location amid the mainstream hubbub of the Quayside, this is pretty good. Cloudwater and 3 Bridges ales were enjoyed as well as an excellent smoked porter.

Now joined to Bob Trollops as one pub. Up to 9 real ales on. Run by the same people behind the Lady Grey's pub.

It's all right. Only one real ale is a bit of disappointment, but the food is OK. The building itself is historic and is in a good spot.

Get some more real ales in and this could be a real winner.

I can't think you'll get cheaper on the quayside. 2.50 a pint, but it is the common drinks (Strongbow, Kronies, etc...). A bit of a different pub though, with many enclaves.

Seen better, seen worse.

Nice place, close to the Quayside with Old Speckled Hen on draught. Unfortunately spoilt by the hooray lunchtime crowd from local solicitors, but worse that that..............(if possible) no Hen for three days out of five this week. Just John Smiths on, yuk.
Get your stock ordering right!

Disappointed from The Smoke (London not Teesside!)

Absolutely ace, but it took about 3 hours to find my way out and I ended up in Bob Trollops looking at veggie meals. Some crazy bird wanted ice in their Newcy Broon too...

Used to be great but it's so busy now that the Quayside is full of Yuppies and kids. Never had a bad time there, but not sure about sharing the bog with the pub next door!

One of the best pubs on the quayside (and Newcastle for that matter). It looks tiny when you walk in but venture back and the character of the place is revealed in cavernous "cellar style" back rooms.

Have been in this pub only twice but on each occasion have had a thoroughly good time. The atmosphere has was first class and the servce as efficient as it could be given how busy it was. The clientele were in the 25-50 bracket. My only concern was the early (11pm)closing time.
