please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I note that Debbie's rave review was almost four years ago - a long time in the history of a pub serving food. Is Paul the "head chef" still there in this little pub in a back alley in Farnham?
A fortnight ago, a friend and I tried the pub after a pleasant round of golf at the nine hole course at the top of Castle Street. I'm on a low carb diet and asked the pleasant mature lady behind the bar if I could have, basically, a fry up: sausage, bacon, egg and tomatoes, without bread or chips.
No problem. My friend and I enjoyed the same dish.
We returned a week later. A teenager behind the bar.
We requested the same lunch. Sorry, but "chef" only does what is on the menu. Aforesaid items can only be seved in a sandwich. Apologetic teenager apologises, but says she has to do as the chef tells her.
OK, I say; we'll have one of the "specials", which is chicken curry.
Back comes the hapless lass. Very sorry, but we've only got one curry left. (To put into the microwave by the "head chef"?)
My companion had the curry and I had a spaghetti bol, the only other "special".
Does this pub have a policy? A mission statement? A grain of common sense?
Any establishment providing food should be constantly thinking: how can I be of service to my customers?
Without mature guidance, the Hop Blossum seems to opt for what is convenient for the pub.

Excellent. Still retains some of that old-fashioned pub atmosphere. Best draught London Pride I've ever tasted. Good range of other Fuller's on draught plus a guest ale.
No music (except live - and not too often thankfully), no video-games or other distractions.
Great roaring fire. Amusing odd-ball regulars.
If there is a fault, I'd say the food can be a bit hit and miss (and only served at lunch time), but then that could be said for most of the restaurants in Farnham too!

Just moved to area & discovered this place. Beer in excellent condition. A really friendly pub. Packed on the Saturday we were there - great live music too. Will struggle to find a better pub, I reckon.

Probably one of the best pubs in Farnham if not the best. Excellent selection of beers and lagers. Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere (especially in the winter). Great boozer!

Very good Fullers pub. Never seems to have cracked the food issue though. Beer is well kept and a good atmosphere. Recommended.

This is one of the better pubs in Farnham. I always make an effort to visit this place when I fancy a drink.

Closes at 14:30 on a weekday - so you may not find out how good it is..............we didn't. Which is a shame as we had walked a long way. Third pub in our "crawl" of Farnham.

A busy and friendly local in a central yet quiet location. Excellent London Pride. Extensive food menu served in the bar, pleasant conservatory and rear dining room.

The Hop Blossom is not far from Farnham town centre and yet its quiet location has the feel of being miles away from any busy areas. Built in the 18th century, the attractive hostelry has a long history of serving fine ales and tasty food to the locals and in recent years has become well known to visitors to the area as well. The main bar areas are cosy and compact with oak floors combined with open log fires adding to the traditional feel. A more recent addition is the new conservatory which is enhanced with plants and pots providing a quiet haven in which to enjoy your drink or a meal.

The pub enjoys a fine reputation for serving fine food, which is not surprising when you learn that the owner, Jim McDonald-Good, a fully qualified chef, works closely with Paul the Head Chef. Together they create a superb selection of refined and inventive dishes, all freshly prepared and cooked to order. Food is available midday until 2.30pm and from 7pm until 10.30pm in the evening, Monday to Friday. On Saturday food is available all day whilst on Sundays food is only served at lunchtime. With over 70 covers in all, there is usually room to be found, and although everything looks and sounds delicious, the home-made curries are especially highly recommended.
