please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Please ignore the grumpy old man comment left on 5th july 2011, clealry he has issues with the pub!
I have been going to the ardingly inn for 2 years and i havent had any problems with it, the staff are very friendly and wellcoming and the food is lovely, all freshley made, unlike some of the other pubs in ardingly that only microwave everything!
people may say the inn needs a decorate, but its a COUNTRY PUB IN A VILLAGE!! not zizzi s.

This seems a fairly down to earth sort of place which is quite refreshing when so many village pubs are so pretentious these days. Nothing special about it, but welcoming and seems to do all the basics right.

Nice pub and we were made welcome by the gaffer and his missus. Only two others in at about 9pm on Wednesday so its difficult to be objective about atmosphere.
Problem only Hall and Woodhouse beers, which are of course tasteless crap. (They brew supermarket own-brand beers). Having said that, the two they had were in very good condition.
So there isnt much point visiting this pub for beer.

We visited this pub for the first time last night with my partner and we will definately be returning. The food was excellent, lots of it and good value. The service from the bar staff was friendly and welcoming. Everything you can ask for from a country pub. Thank you for a great evening

I stayed at the Ardingly Inn for three nights with my wife and in answer to the review of the 5th July we can only say that the reviewer has not stayed at the Inn. Yes as in EVERY pub you stay in there will be a bit of noise but it is a pub!
We have always found the food to be exellent and when staying you get a great breakfast. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Of course there are one or two things that could be better rooms could be warmer and more hot water and the bar loos need a makeover but apart from that we would recommend The Ardingly. It sounds as though someone has an axe to grind.

Is it a pub or is it a nursing home? The food and accommodation are akin to a home for old people, but the noise of terrible music or anti-social customers will prevent you from getting a good night's sleep - and no nurses are on-hand to sedate you. The village has two much better pubs (the Oak and the Gardners' Arms). Do not eat here, do not stay here.

Ultimately, this is not a universally wonderful pub. Its wares appear to be very seldom overwhelmingly impressive. Nevertheless, equally they are rarely underwhelmingly forgettable either. Being a Hall & Woodhouse outlet there is a limit to the levels of creativity the licensees can go to; ale selection will not be out of the ordinary, and the emphasis, like so many pubs of the same stable, is on a fairly predictable range of pub meals. However, the cask beer that is available has never disappointed me; on the few occasions I've visited over the years it's been excellent in fact. Also, although yet to sample it first-hand, the victuals look to be well-presented and popular with the locals, many of whom come not only for liquid libation but also solid sustenance.

The pub does reasonably-priced accommmodation, which is rather useful for events at the nearby Showground. I have stayed here for a local event at the end of November 2 years running now, and each time I have found the rooms generously-sized, clean, with appropriate facilities and decor that doesn't jar. Doubles can be let as single rooms if need be for a reduced price (around 50 which isn't uncompetitive). Regrettably my shower, despite being apparently recently-fitted, didn't operate properly on my last visit, but I didn't mention it to the chamring and friendly licensees. I should have, for the benefit of others, but they were awfully nice, and had just given me a rather good friend breakfast (included in the price, featuring sound fresh ingredients).

Whether you're needing a room or otherwise, the Ardingly Inn is understandably popular with locals, and there is always a jolly, bustling atmosphere to the place. Not exceptional, but thoroughly acceptable on all levels. I daresay I'll be back in November 2011!

visited on a beautiful Sunday just after 1330 ..surprised it wasn't busier. After a slight wait served a perfectly adequate pint of Badger plus the drinks my less enlightened friends wanted! The pub looked in decent nick...only slightly disconcerting thing was that the landlady seemed to stare at me when she arrived rather than asking what I wanted!

Rather quiet when I called in (Wimbledon ladies' finals were on), but the beer was in good condition. Food not sampled.

A mere 40 minutes' walk across the fields from Horsted Keynes railway station. A very scenic walk it is too. I was about ready for some refreshment.

This is a really nice pub. Very nice bar staff and had a very nice pint of Badger best which is not my favorite beer that Hall and Woodhouse do, I prefere the Sussex (made in Dorset but to the old King and Barnes recipe but they did not have that) but the badger was really nice, well kept and full of flavour. It was not packed but it was mid week but still good atmosphere I have to say. Nice for a quite pint, country atmosphere and while going for the food market , I would say worth visiting for a good pint in a comfortable setting.

Welcome Brad and Fiona and the gang back to 'The Ardingly Inn' (The Snowdrop) Had our first meal here the wednesday they took over and I had the Mixed Grill which I must say was the best meal I have had in a pub for sometime! As usual if there is something with the meal you cannot eat or like they will change the meal slightly. Nothing is too much trouble. Yes it will take a little time to settle in and get the pub to the standard we expect from them but if they are serving food to this standard after just two days watch this space. So if you want good food good beer good staff goto the 'Ardingly Inn'

Happy pub, landlord and staff all very friendly, food very good, beer well kept, will try and accommodate you as much as possible and dogs are welcome. Hotel rooms very comfortable as well. Has nice new matching furniture now.

Went there for lunch today. Food was brilliant all veg were fresh and presented well. 8.85 for a Sunday lunch which filled the plate. Nice friendly staff, very welcoming. Only downer was the furniture looked a bit tatty and it could all do with freshening up as you might think it was dirty.

Treated my Aunt and Uncle to a meal out on a Saturday and I am extremely surprised this pub was not busier!
The pub has a nice ambience and friendly bar staff, we ate in the cosy restaurant which has a homely feel. The food was faboulous, real home cooked food and it was cooked well with generous portions and clean plates all round. Varied selection and specials on as well so wide choice available. Additionally they had wine specials on at a very reasonable price and they were both excellent and served correctly.
Finally top marks to the waitress for whom nothing was too much trouble and very efficient, timely and pleasant service.
PS: I may have to delete this review from this site so nobody else discovers this little gem!

A traditional local pub serving some great cask ales, and a fine selection of home cooked food surrounded by a friendly welcoming atmosphere to locals and visitors alike. You can tell they really care for the quality they serve, and serve a great pint, crisp, clean and well balanced, if its not ready you'll have to pick another ale from their selection. I've never had a bad pint yet. Now being in the Industry, finding somewhere to relax, is not always an easy task, unless........you find the Ardingly Inn.

Just been taken on by two lads from Yorkshire who obviously know what they're doing - it's like a different pub!
Good home made (not the euphemistic "home cooked"!) food - the chef is a local girl.
Hall & Woodhouse beers (Badger, Tanglefoot, HB, HB Export, Stella Artois,Dry Blackthorn and Guinness)
