pretty much as per last entry - unremarkable, ale second rate (like pretty much every Fullers pub) with added hound sniffing about (spill some beer on it's head and it will go away). It's handy for the station full stop

The landlord was pleasant enough, but this is a charmless drinking den. The external appearance is okay. Apparently only London Pride was on (five) taps, but the beer does meet the standard. There was an inquisitive dog that sniffs about you! Check opening times as the pub does not open much during weekday lunch-times. I'd only return if I had a few minutes before needing to scuttle across the level crossing for a train.

As we walked back from the Downgate on a Sunday evening, we heard live acoustic music coming from the Railway Tavern so we popped in. I can't say that it was friendly but the atmosphere wasn't hostile even though everyone else seemed to know each other. There is no feeling of cosiness here, it all seemed slightly devoid of furniture and more of a place where you go with a few (male) mates to stand and drink. There was only London Pride available at £3.50 which was fine. The last sentence from our April 2010 reviewer remains accurate.

This appears to have reopened. I'd intended nipping in after a soccer match, as I was likely to have 45 minutes to kill. However, the train I should've missed by 15 minutes was late and was just pulling in as I approached the station (What? A train late in England? On a Bank Holiday? Well I Never!) so I didn't go in.

Dreadful London pride. Tasted like vinegar an d could not finish it. Was given a fresh pint which was not quite as bad at first. Was ill later.

Went in while waiting for a train. Only ale was Pride which would be OK but it wasn't in the best condition; drinkable though. I was the only customer apart from a couple of locals (weekday afternoon) and it didn't seem particularly friendly. Nothing really badly wrong with it, but the much better Downgate is only just up the road.

shame have travelled past this pub for nearly seven years as i work on the trains and have always wanted to go in 4 a lovely pint of Fullers.visited yesterday and the only pump clip from the range was London Pride.......and it was off! :-( Nice cute barmaid though was very apolagetic and i opted 4 a cider in the nice beer patio area, a def 8/10 if the ale had of been on!.
