loud unpleasant pub. juke box expensive beers.
drinker1000 - 1 May 2013 17:10
Old Speckled Hen only beer on, GK IPA was turned around. Large one bar pub, raised area in the corner. Dartboard and pool table. Locals sitting at the bar. Ok but unremarkable.

Burns night at the ROYAL OAK. BRILLIANT.
All the traditional dress, bagpipes a wee dram with haggis, tats and neeps happily dished out to all by Colin and Tina. (For Free)
The night started with a patriotic speech praising the scots and light-heartedly knocking us brits,
After wich the haggis was paraded around the pub by the chef with Colin and the piper in full dress and the pipes in full song.
Then came the address to a haggis performed by Colin who acted and orated it in magnificent style.
After toasting the haggis the piper played as the food was handed out and enjoyed
by all .
With all the whisky on special and the obvious banter going round it was a fantastic evening.

Hear hear "loudmouth"!!!! The whole of the Christmas period and New Year were a blinder!!! I have been in a few times during the festive period..... decorated like a grotto, always food being put on the bar, or a full buffet, 3 great live bands in 2 weeks!!! This place is now seriously rocking!!!! All sorts of people in here too, from locals to muso's to bikers-and everyone gets a great welcome!!! A must!!
trikerslut - 1 Jan 2008 19:50
Got to hand it to these two they know how to throw a party and not just through the closed windows, great new years eve live band grub and 100 draw all for a lousy fiver just to keep the riff raff out handouts cant be spent on entrance fee, go on the girl hope 2008 brings in more support for the great job you and the old man are doing

Fabby pub!!!! Real ales, real atmosphere, real hospitality AND REAL LIVE MUSIC FREE EVERY SATURDAY!!!! Tina and her other half work really hard to make sure you feel welcome and the staff are great!!!! Theres always something going on-quizzes, music, chilli, bikers, cheap doubles, live bands, discos.... and if you get really bored the dog will entertain you!!!! A1.... Top pub!!!!
trikerslut - 27 Sep 2007 21:09
What is wrong with you people! This pub is blinding! Find another pub in the area that has FREE live music every weekend!!! And puts free food on the bar!!! And has cheap deals on shorts and beer!!! And shows rugby instead of poxy football AND WELCOMES BIKERS!!!! The Royal Oak can be boisterous-its a PUB not a poxy wine bar!!!
If you want GENUINE HOSPITALITY, a brilliant atmosphere, a bloody good laugh and BEER THAT IS NOT WATERED DOWN in an old fashioned pub where everyone joins in the crack, the Oak is for you..... if not, go and sit in a souless weatherspoons!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!
anonymous - 27 Sep 2007 21:05
easy seen the last comment are of those who do not like a trad. pub 4-6 is happy hour yes all the worker grafters and those who support this pub are here, come back in the evening when our girlfriends and wives are here see the change. or just moaning about live near a pub to loud ect ect get a life and get out and enjoy yourself treat every day like your last day on earth one day you will be right
loudmouthedswearingbstd - 27 Sep 2007 16:47
definetly a locals pub i happened to be in the area so i popped in one early evening it was full of brickies and plumbers etc the talk was mainly about how many little old ladies the plumbers had turned over on that particular day [bloody low lifes] i drank my beer which was flat and left promptly the best thing about this pub is the front door which i left through i certainly wont be going back especially if i need a plumber

anonymous - 24 Sep 2007 13:19
definitely not a place to bring your wife or girlfriend with such a plethora of lascivious eligible bachelors in residence. just watch out for the resident traffic warden and use the car park.
anonymous - 22 Sep 2007 18:57
oi boozers.... could take offence at that except you obviously sampled too much of the real ales. staff have never been accused of being slow!
loudmouthedswearingbstd - 22 Sep 2007 15:36
strange the patio occupied by smokers since they just been banned from the pub! car parking for 35 cars can hardly be called small! maybe boozers_knows had consumed a few too many of the real ales!
anonymous - 22 Sep 2007 15:19
A local's pub outside of the main town which seems to attract loud mouthed, hard swearing types. Not a place to take your wife or girlfriend! Reasonably comfortable but certainly not posh. Landlord must be a biker judging by the photos around the place. It's saving grace was 3 real ales with a fourth pump available. Morland Original, Rev James and GK Abbott ale were available on the day. Service was bit slow with only one bar person serving. Small patio mainly occupied by the smokers. Car park also small but it has been expanded. It doesn't appear to sell food.
boozers_knows - 7 Jul 2007 16:29
I hadn't been to this place for years, because it used to be a nightmare-what a dramatic change! The new guys have been there for about a year now and its a brilliant place now! Live music every saturday night, great atmosphere, nice staff, clean, tidy, and what a crack! Everyone's really friendly and as a single woman i didn't feel threatened at all! I only popped in for one and ended up staying all night! Love it. Definitely the best pub in leatherhead now!
anonymous - 10 May 2007 13:22
Brilliant pub... Rugby fans too so that's on big screen whenever possible. bikers treated as human beings and welcomed too which is a nice change! oh. and the beer was great also... what more can a rugby fan/biker/beerdrinker want.
anonymous - 16 Nov 2006 14:35
great place for a quite drink during the week the weekends are buzzing to a band most saturdays and sports events on tv not just football thanks. pop in and see whats on offer or visit the website
anonymous - 15 Nov 2006 17:10
This place has changed dramatically! All redecorated and clean & tidy. New landlady is great, as are the new staff! Best pint of guinness in Leatherhead and the real ales are pretty good too. Would highly recommend popping in if you haven't been there for a while. Some cracking bands on at the weekends too. Is over 21's only now, so no "youth club" feel anymore!
anonymous - 12 Nov 2006 17:57
At last - a real pub in leatherhead! Tina, aided and abetted by Colin have transformed this watering hole. Always a good selection of real ales. Abbott,Speckled Hen,Morlands and IPA bitters usually with one on a reduced price. Live Bands on a Friday or Saturday. see the website for details. Fireworks display coming up. Superb freshly cooked lunches during the week. Rugby/Football on a large screen when necessary.
A friendly and hospitable pub. VISIT IT.
thistlec - 19 Oct 2006 11:12

anonymous - 16 May 2006 12:41
certainly the pub to go to if you want a quiet drink without disturbance from other customers, weekdays especially quiet and intermet the pub only serves a select number of beverages and the restaurant always able to serve you quickly. Ping!! ;)

niceperson2006 - 13 Apr 2006 22:27
Now a tenancy with Rob. Free Wireless Internet access for customers. Excellent all day food menu with bar snacks. Draught IPA, Guiness and lagers, plus guest Ales.

thistlec - 20 Nov 2005 19:45
new licensee again! Jax. Nothing else changed though. watch out for the soppiest pub dogs ever!
andy - 29 May 2004 18:55
new managers, riley and liz have got things going again. music friday evenings, food all day. Draught bitters (IPA, Speckled Hen & Ruddles ) in spectacular condition.
andy - 21 Jan 2004 18:31
dunno when michael went in - august / september has seen the pub emptied by inappropriate managers. thankfully they departing mid september.
andy - 9 Sep 2003 23:06
Nice crowd of people, nice people running the show and a good all around community pub.
Michael - 12 Aug 2003 00:05
Cheapish and functional - entertainment most weekends. Can get a bit lively at times...locals are nice once you get to know them.
Gerald - 2 Jul 2003 12:29
