There was a police car outside this pub on my Saturday morning arrival, with an area cordoned off. The pub was still open. But apparently there had been some trouble here the previous evening. The Bluebell was pretty disappointing. It's a Greene King pub and the solitary ale was Old Golden Hen. Even then, the barman was not sure if it was on or not. There were a few people in. But many were simply having breakfast.

Mid-sized pub (all the building in the photo above is the pub) with 3 cask ales from major breweries, usually in acceptable condition at £2.50. Large range of basic pub food. Very close to train and bus stations and in the main shopping street.

Apart from the staff not knowing what a pint is (try filling the pint glass) there's nothing wrong with the place, but bland beer in an empty pub isn't much of a reason to visit, especially in a town with so many other options.

The Blue Bell has been re-opened for about a month now and I went in last thursday to the the open mic night with Paula . A cracking start Paula sang beautifully and there were some very entertaining guests including awesome Andrew on keyboards and trombone. A nice pint of Black Sheep.
Support a local that supports live music a good friendly atmosphere
