A real shame - stopped at this pub for a saturday lunch, really nice food but the experience was entirely spoilt by the very rude owner. After eating we then went for a bit of a walk from the pub car park (we didnt think it would be a problem leaving our car there as we had spent a decent amount of money on lunch there and also there was only one other car in the car park...we had in fact parked in front of a sign which said please park here!!) and on our return the owner made a point of telling having a go at us for leaving our car there as they had a private party that evening. He could have brought this up in a much more polite way but chose to be rude and confrontational. We were planning to frequent this pub but this has really put us off. Obviously we did not want to inconvinience anyone and didnt realise it was an issue... so didnt expect quite such a confrontation at the end of what was meant to be a nice day. Very bad attitude to customers.

We always have a great time in this pub. The food is excellent always fresh and although sometimes this means that items are no longer available the quality of the locally sourced fresh meat, fish and veg is always exceptional.

The combination of 'old school' and modern desserts is always a tempting option - waistline doesn't always appreciate it but not to be missed!

The inside is welcoming and comfortable, staff always attentive even when rushed off their feet. The outside space has yet to be tested fully - roll on the summer!

Would recommend this to anyone visiting Shoreham as the best place to eat, drink and relax in the village.

Found ourselves passing through Shoreham on a walk last weekend. Had intended to go elsewhere but the lure of Beer & Cider festival lured us into the 2Brewers, us being big cider fans.

4 local ciders but 3 rather bizarre, being flavoured with odd non-apple flavours (raspberry, peach, coconut and something... no thanks). But the apple-flavoured one was good.

Friendly bar staff and excellent food. My co-walker had sausage and mash and was bowled over by the oceans of superb onion gravy offerred. I had fish cakes which were great and looked identical to those on offer at the nearby The Hop Shop (which is a good thing),

What a lovely, lovely pub. I'd never been to Shoreham before but on Sunday my fiancee and myself had a leisurely day there. We walked into this pub to be greeted with a sign "There are no strangers, only friends we have not yet met" and a very friendly gentleman, Chris.
I had a pint of Westerham 1965 followed by a Cornish Coaster, both lovely. My other half was offered a few ciders to try before settling on a strong raspberry flavoured cider.
We were made to feel very welcome and the clientele were a nice mixture of ramblers, day-trippers and locals.
I had the roast beef which was delicious, well cooked and reasonably priced, my fiancee had the fish and chips, which looked amazing and tasted as good as it looked.
If you get off the train at Shoreham I highly recommend you make your way past the other pubs to get to the 2 Brewers.

My wife and I visit Shoreham on a regular basis, usually to have a wander round the village and lunch in the Jolly Ostler (Kings Arms). On our last visit however, we couldn't get into the Ostler (looked like it must've been National Ramblers Day or something) so we continued around the village and went into the Two Brewers, which we'd not visited before. It was warm, peaceful and welcoming, which is exactly the atmosphere we were after. We were shown to a lovely table in the corner, where our drinks order was taken by a very friendly and charming barmaid. There were three beers on offer, one of which was Black Sheep bitter - which I had. It was a perfectly pulled pint, so top marks there. We ordered our food and sat back and relaxed, reliably informed that there was a 20 minute wait which was fine. Our food arrived a little later than advertised, but our dishes were so delicious that our one minor quibble was swiftly forgotten. The steak and ale pie I had was just delightful, and pretty reasonable at a little over 8 quid. Proper home-made jacketed chips to boot - perfect! My wife was over the moon with her chicken chasseur as well, which is always a bonus. The staff were extremely friendly and polite, chatty and helpful, and the place itself is beautifully decorated and very homely with its log fire roaring away. We will definitely be coming here again, top marks to the landlord and his family for a wonderful afternoon lunch.

At last there's a bright and cheerful pub in this pretty village. What a transformation ... fresh, clean decor, a great selection of beers and wines and good quality, freshly prepared food instead of the usual processed and frozen fare served at huge profit in so many pubs these days. The pub has very recently been taken over by a local family who have worked so hard to transform it, and to build a new reputation. Early days but first impressions are very positive. Theres a sports bar with TV screen, a cosy snug area and plenty of room for dining. The previous landlord would be amazed to see what a buzzing atmosphere there was at the recent Children in Need charity event. The pub has also scored the best out of all four pubs on the food hygiene 'Scores on the Doors' accreditation, having been awarded four stars just a few days after they re-opened. (PS I was somewhat disturbed to note that two of the others in the village have only scored 1 out of 5 - the sooner they all have to display their ratings, the easier it will be for diners to make an informed choice about where they take their custom!). Give it a try you wont be disappointed

Has finally closed down and has been taken over by new owners (Oct 09) in the process of refurbishing , from what I can see looks good so far. The old pub was so dated i.e. old red patterned carpet and velvet red seats that you used to sink into. Food was cheap and nasty. Was never busy considering it was in a tourist trap picture esq village in summertime. Hopefully new owners will breathe some new life into it. Also please do a different menu from the other pubs in the village that is the problem with Shoreham all the pubs are so quiet, same food, same non atmosphere, I hope new owners try something different. Good luck to them.

Only been in here once, that was last week.
Barmaid was chatty.
Food was plentiful and about the same price as others at Shoreham.
Beer was limited to Green King IPA or Spitfire.
Garden area was a pit.
Bar was clean.
Only problem really was that the barmaid had to go upstairs with the food order come down, go upstairs to collect the food and bring it down (I was eating in the bar, as were most folk. Restaurant upstairs) Dirty crockery to be taken upstairs by her. She was working hard, but there was a long wait to get a drink often.
Locals were friendly.
Can only say how I found it, and would rate it second best in Shoreham, with Crown, for excellent food and beer, first, the other two tie last. One coats food in MSG, the other has screaming kids in it. (But good food) Neither had any thing special in the way of ales. (Both had small brewery bitter, but going by the taste, must be the cheapest)
I will visit th Two Brewers again and see if it stays the same.

Arrived opening time lunch Saturday.Outside tables rotted & broken Food debris surrounding.Don't they own a broom!!
Photo nothing like it really is weeds growing around perimeter.
Went into bar & saw an "array" of pumps.None working only Spitfire & IPA available.Looked at the menu "SIX AND A HALF QUID "for a jacket potato. What planet are these people from.Previous entry spot on "THE WORST PUB IN THE VILLAGE"
With terrible places like this its no wonder 30 pubs a day are closing.I suggest the "landlords"take a trip to the continent & see how the business should be run with cleanliness & the quality that attracts customers. Not drive them away
Adios

This is the worst pub in the village, bar staff very rude, if you don't like it leave it type of attitude.
Always cold in the winter and the childrens room is like an old fashioned waiting room with one calor gas heater, very safe! not welcoming at all, can't see why they need a childrens room anyway as the pub is always empty and very strange as they don't even have a childrens menu and won't do childrens meals!

Recently carried out a nice long walk around Shoreham and stopped off in each of its four pubs how they are all still open is beyond me. I have mixed feelings about these pubs by far the worst was The Brewers, Then The Crown followed closely by the Kings Arms and By far the best was Ye Olde George Inne. As this was the nicest pub we decided to have our lunch here. Very pleasant atmosphere very welcoming and good food I had the Steak and ale pie and my wife had fishcakes and salad.
The ales were very good Harveys was in very good condition I would whole heartedly recommend the George for lunch or dinner.

God I agree with the previous post why are there these type of terrrible places still open?
pubspy66 - 14 Jan 2009 21:36
This should not still be open!
Badly run, poordecor and miserable staff.
Will not be returning
tinamore - 14 Jan 2009 21:09
Bar was virtually empty when we arrived and the barmaid (who looked pretty bored) said it was always like that.... decor much to be desired which could be why....won't be going back.

Low ceilings, and their anaglypta paper plus the red-dominant furnishings & decor all contribute to a retro 70s feel, pub even has space invaders machines in rear room, but they weren't switched on ystdy pm. Small real fire & a portable heater kept the cold out. Broadside, Spitfire, IPa, but your have to drink to a truly awful soundtrack - a mix of mediterranean plink-plonk, last waltz &, I kid you not, 'Raindrops keep falling on my head'. Surreal.

went there with my wife couple of weeks ago.found the place very friendly although not busy for some unknown reason.food when served after some wait was absolutely superb and plentiful.cant fault the place to be honest, will definately visit again.

Had a terrible meal here in 2005 on Mothers day.
Went back last week & believe its changed hands.Pity they haven't reviewed range of beers Does anyone drink Courage ???.Otherwise boring old "Spitfire"
Someone asked if they could bring dog in refused by barman who then proceeded to smoke his fag outside the bar.Wonder what he will do on the 1st July.

Have been going to Kings Arms round the corner since 2005 where you can get fabulous "Harveys" .Has a good outdoor area & range of food is gt to.

A large pub with a good sized seperate non-smoking area downstairs. We never went upstairs to see the additional seating there. Service very good, and staff friendly. Lunch took longer than usual to arrive, but we did not have to chase it as they came and told us they were sorry for the delay. The food was excellent, and my mother commented that it was the best pub food she had ever had. The food was very well presented, and was carried to the table by the chef. Even the side order of a bread roll for a pound was a good size, soft, and presented in it's own basket. The menu was varied from burgers to salads to pork chops, and we only wish it was our local pub.

A really cosy and friendly pub with a "restaurant" upstairs serving typical pub food plus specials at average prices.
Good range of well kept beers.
