please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Been a member of this site for 9 years. It is now, sadly , a joke. No moderation. No admin. No anything. Other pub sites must be having a right old laugh.

Hadn't been in the pub for a number of years but was pleasantly surprise dwhen I popped in a few weeks ago. The barmaid was very friendly and it had a good atmosphere.

Nice to see they have kept two dart boards and I had a good game of pool with some other drinkers. It appears that they have alot of pool players.

All in all a nice experience and I have been back a number of times since. It did have a bad name about 3-4 years ago but it looks like that has now gone and alot of the people have changed for the better.

Would recommend a good pub for a nice beer if you live pretty local.

Not a very nice pub!!! tacky union jack build into the sign (shows what the place is trying to be!!!) Usual jack the lad people drink in there from the usual alcoholics to the woman that sit at home and live off the state, drinks very expencive which makes you wonder were all the lay abouts that drink in there get there money from!!! my advice is avoid!!!!

The pub has recently been taken over by a new landlady who has completely turned the place around for the better, in the short period that she's been there. The dark and dingy atmosphere no longer exists, its been redecorated to feel clean and bright.New juke box, pool table, big t.v screen and what appears to be a regular entertainment programme.Staff are lovely, friendly and very welcoming and the atmosphere is great compared to the old days.

Been drinking in The Boat for years, it has just been taken over and the effort that is being made is superb. The whole inside has been decorated and brightened up like never before. The new landlady is welcoming and friendly. The `more trouble than it`s worth` projector & screen have been replaced by a brand new huge flat screen tv. You can actually watch tv during the day now without having to pull the blinds and watching a blurry picture. There has been work done to the outside to tidy it all up and there are more extensive works going on outside at the moment. The food menu has been changed and is served fresh and at a good price. A huge effort is being put in by the new owners to bring a decent pub into the community once again.

Used to be a brilliant pub up until about 2 years ago when the whole place got taken over by pikes and under 16yr olds!
Only good as a meeting place and a quick pint before moving onto somewhere else.
