Awful place. Loud, dirty and expensive.

Went in here with the family looking for somewhere to have lunch. there's quite a large outdoor area, but as it was raining and bloody freezing we wanted somewhere to sit indoors. It was busy with young folk ( most folk seem young to me these days!) nothing wrong with that! However, it was dirty and untidy, the carpet was filthy, tables were covered in glasses. We left!

Absolutely rank. Filthy carpets, sticky tables, and an unpleasant smell. Does the management have no pride? Oh, for the days when this was Bierrex.

I've been drinking there since I was 18 and im 24 now, so if I can still love the place after 6 years then they must be doing something right.

All my mates go there when we're in Newcastle and ive no doubt most of the bar staff must recognise us by now.

It really does just cheer me up when I walk in there because I feel like im home.

I had a joint birthday party upstairs and booked the entire floor out and had dozens of people in the place. All for just 40! Cant complain.

They have a huge toy grabbing machine FFS!!!

Ok, so the prices arent cheap, but if your a student then get off your ass and get a yellow card. It does make them cheaper.

Plus even if it is slightly expensive, you get a really good juke box (indie, rock, rnb, everything), comfy seats, nice bar staff, a friendly environment, two floors, a bear garden, two pool tables and nice food.

Plus in the 6 years ive been drinking there, ive only ever seen trouble a couple of times.

When some random bloke kicked off and that lasted 2 seconds and he ran off. And when some rich-boy freshers got drunk and smashed pints on the ground.

Yeah alot of people in there are potentious indie wanna-bes and Newcastle Uni posh boys. But who cares, let them be stuck-up-their-asses!

Me and my friends (locals) have been drinking there alot longer then most of them. Most of them are freshers and cant lay a claim to being true regulars.

Let the posh-wanna-be indie boys come and go. Us regulars are nice people and always have a smile on our faces :D

To all those slagging students off, whats your problem you miserable sods?! Hancock is a top pub!

Dreadful. Not a patch on Bierrex and that wasn't all that good. Filled with lots of students from the Home Counties - ot it used to be; I suppose most of them are screwing up the bars on Osborne Road now.

Imagine being deposited in a giant kids play area that happened to serve alcohol and greaseburgers. Imagine everything from the furniture to the customers being in primary colours only. Imagine the student union from the University of Huntingdonshire. Imagine going somewhere for a quick pint and coming away feeling like you've just woken from a bad dream. Do this and then you will have no need to ever visit this establishment. For those of us that remember the heady days of Bierrex and the Crosbys, to see the spectacular transformation of this place was like watching St Pauls being converted into a Travelodge. Brushes away a solitary tear.

Truly awful It's A Scream pub - it's anything but unless that's a scream of terror you're talking about. Gash decor, poor beer selection and poor food. Students throwing away their loans and talking codswallop is the order of the day. Without wishing to saound like an old fogey it should never have changed from Bierrex - now THAT was a bar - awesome beer, staff, atmosphere, live music and very good food. Them was the days. Anybody remember the Crosby brothers? Possibly the greatest pub band in the history of the world; played regularly at Bierrex. If anybody does know them tell them they changed my life.

Good pub ran by good guys. Frank and Steve do a cracking job of keeping this true student bar bouncing along. Good beer, good food, great atmosphere.
