Sporting photos on the wall, beer was drinkable - okay for somewhere on the seafront I suppose.

Have been visiting sidmouth for years and always end up in the Marine in the evenings (and occasionally during the day). Very friendly bar staff run by John and his family. Great for chilling out and catching up with 'sport'. Weekends are lively and quiz nights are a laugh

Much bigger than i expected and if you can get a seat outside on a summers day it's great for watching the world go by.
If you want to watch rugby or football then this is the pub for you.
My pint of scrumpy jack was nice and chilled.

9/10

I have just recently returned form a small break in Devon. I visited Sidmouth on a pre tour as I have heard of the sidmouth folk festival and I wanted to get the low down on the local pubs before my preposed visit to the festival this year (never been before). I read all the reviews on the pubs prior to my visit and I would like to add my humble opinion.

The best pub in Sidmouth if you wanted to watch any sport. Friendly staff. Didn't have any food, but the beer was Ok.

I visited this pub one lunchtime and sat outside watching all the tourists filing by.

I had a pint of Branoc, which is brewed just down the coast at Branscombe. It was very nice and I enjoyed my brief stop.

It's a bar rather than a pub and caters well for it's target clientelle. It's minimalistic and has steel chairs and tables. Its not everyone's cup of tea, but it was a welcome pint and tasted good.

More a sports bar than a proper pub, its only real advantage is that it is the only public house on Sidmouth's sea front. This, of course, means that it is often crowded with the bucket and spade brigade on sunny days. At the back of the pub, at the time of my last visit, was the World's Worst Pool Table. Beer was the selection of over-chilled fizz one might expect of such a place.

There are better pubs in Sidmouth - in fact, all of them!
